Heavy rainfall in North Sikkim has triggered landslides and caused the Teesta River to wash away a key section of the under-construction Sankalang Bridge, severing links to remote areas. A red alert is in place as rescue teams search for nine missing tourists after a vehicle plunged into the river. Multiple properties were damaged, and travel advisories have been issued.
